Mie Kocok – Maroubra

Located on Maroubra road, this place has been around forever. I can’t believe I haven’t gotten around to posting about it, cause I really like this place.

It’s an Indonesian Chinese style food. Noodles, rice, things like that. And the standard dressing and topping “kecap manis”, a sweet savoury sauce that is on everything.

Check out the menu. Manis means sweet.

Indonesian crackers anyone? Pick up a bag, it’s $3 each. There’s prawn crackers, fish crackers, bean crackers, etc…

Emping melinjo is one of my favourites. Some kind of nut, dried and fried. My grand mother used to make them for us all the time. Crunchy with a good salty bitter taste. Yum… Love it.
